Title
Madeline
Description
Madeline Rogers-Selim served as the director of the recreation program at the Camden Avenue School on Danforth Street from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s. After becoming ill with breast cancer, she was forced to give up the job she loved. She died in 1987 at the age of 47. According to her obituary in the Providence Journal, although she did not have children of her own, Rogers-Selim provided shoes to those without, provided food to children who were hungry, and helped out with tuition for teens struggling to go to college. She was a lover of art and music and made sure that Rec youngsters were exposed to both art forms.
