Title

Past-Present-Future of PHA

Description

The image of the older woman represents all of our ancestors and the immigrants who first came to Rhode Island. The present is represented by the park and the sense of community here at Hartford Park right now. The future image represents what we want our children to become. I feel like the stigmas about who we are as public housing residents are broken by these two beautiful and vibrant murals. This was more than just an art project; this was history-making as the first mural painted at PHA, by me, a former resident. This has not only been important for me as an artist, and for PHA as an institution, but also for the community here. No matter where you are coming from or what you are going through right now, my work asks you to remember that your life is like a canvas. It is what you make of it!
