Title
Goodluck Gateway
Description
The installation at the Empire Plaza is entitled “The GOOD LUCK Gateway” and is an extension of the artist's sticker art concept. The installation comprises of a 12’ H X 20’ W multi-medium structure that is a gateway to Empire Plaza. The structure includes a vibrant colored arch, with a Lightning Bolt that emits luck to all those who pass through the gateway. The curve of the arch sits nicely in the curved canopy of trees in the plaza. The Flowers and Clouds create a light and playful energy. The Flower is revered as good luck in feng shui. All plants affect the flow of chi energy, the life force that amplifies good fortune. The Greeks held Lightning as a symbol of intuition and luck. The pronounced words GOOD LUCK will be painted silver, and provide a positive affirmation to the public walking by. Violet, Purple, and Blue are the spiritual chakra colors. Opening these chakras helps to expand the mind. An expanded mind that is positive attracts positive things = GOOD LUCK. These are the colors used in the proposed Gateway arch and steps leading up to the installation. The structure sits atop the stairs leading to the plaza and is visible from far down Westminster street. The stairs will be colored with vinyl outdoor tape. At night the GOOD LUCK Gateway lights up and glows, creating a high energy visual at the intersection. The Gateway will provide a fun photo-op for the PVDFest attendees to stand under, absorbing the GOOD LUCK wishes. The installation information sheet/plaque on-site will reveal that it is GOOD LUCK to kiss under the Lightning Bolt (like mistletoe), creating additional prompts for viewers to interact with the Gateway. #yougotlucked #goodluckkiss #PVDgoodluck, etc. These same concepts will carry through to everyday Providence life this summer. GOOD LUCK and positivity are universal concepts that are always needed, but maybe needed more during this difficult time in America.
